Lisbon with Kids

The Vintage Lisbon - Anchor link

Lisbon is a fantastic city for families, with plenty to do and see for people of all ages. Not sure where to start? We’ve pulled together some of our favourites that you – and your kids – are sure to enjoy.

Hop on Tram 28. This legendary little yellow tram clatters through Lisbon’s coolest neighbourhoods including Alfama and its castle on the hill – the Castelo de São Jorge.

Check out the Oceanarium (Oceanario). Over in Parque das Nações, you can find the largest indoor aquarium in Europe housed in an iconic building that looks like its floating on the water. Includes a massive two-storey central tank that has over 100 species including sharks.

Go to Lisbon Zoo (Jardim Zoológico). One of the oldest zoos in Europe, the Jardim Zoológico has reinvented itself in recent years as an impressive centre for animal and habitat conservation.

Play at the Science Museum (Pavilho do Conhecimento). Perfect – specially on a rainy day – this museum is packed with interactive exhibits for kids, and most adults can’t resist getting stuck in too.

Visit the neighbourhood’s parks and playgrounds. Two of our favourite include Jardim da Estrela, complete with several kiosks and a playground for both big and little kids and Jardim de Príncipe Real, also with a small playground, restaurant and coffee kiosk.
